I love you, man.

I love my Drupal with its Chx and his unique attitude, seriously, it just wouldn't be the same without you!

I've never been a fan of yours. Frankly, you're an ass and I don't care how much you know about Drupal, it doesn't give you an excuse to treat others like trash. Just because we may not be the uber-coding geek as you are, doesn't allow you to be a jerk to others. We all love your contributions to Drupal but try being nicer to everyone in general in IRC....believe it or not, you too were once like us.

I'll be perfectly honest and say that yes, you have scared me/hurt my feelings before. In general, people who grow up in Europe tend to have a much more direct way of speaking than people raised in North American for whom it's considered "normal" to beat around the bush instead of just saying what you mean. And like everyone else, you sometimes have bad days and get frustrated like everyone else, that can come across in your communication.

But what I will also say is that I have never met another person in any community I've been a part of who is more dedicated to the success of the project, more patient with helping new contributors to succeed, and with as big of a heart as you. :)

I often think fondly back to when I was a complete newbie to Drupal and you and Steven Wittens both helped lure me out of my shell into doing core contribution. You guys walked me through getting my dev environment set up, mentored me in how to do thorough patch reviews, and taught me some common code optimization patterns. And I continue to see you repeat that over and over with new contributors who have a desire to make the Drupal project better, whether they be SoC students or some random person in IRC who asks a particularly clueful question.

To anyone out there who feels insulted or angry by chx, I'd be willing to bet that if your actions reflected that making Drupal better is as important to you as your own specific needs, you'd likely get a completely different reaction, and be able to see why so many of us love chx and consider him a wonderful friend.

I first met chx at DC2009 -- We were both nearly late to (and kinda apathetic about) the keynote. He was funny and modest. Since then I have learned about all of the amazing code he has written for core.

Thanks chx! Don't listen to those naysayers!

Well you're hardly Steven "Steve" Wittens! But geeks appearing rude is a part of the landscape. I get it from clients about my emails.

I know how passionate you are and i've met you and you don't brush people off. I would hate if you stopped telling me your raw opinion because you weren't sure who I was or how I'd take it.

I don't really understand why people find you rude. Maybe it's because I'm "european", like Angie said. I always saw you helping people you don't even know, and helping a lot new code contributors.

You are definitely one of the great people I like to see in the Drupal community, and that make me proud of being a part of it.

I've never seen anyone be more helpful in IRC. If people want to be spoon fed code, they probably shouldn't be hanging out in #drupal anyway. Keep up the good work!
